Video Generation
How video generation works across Genvid — the pipeline your shots move through, the generation modes available, and the guardrails that keep every generation accountable. This is a conceptual overview; for step-by-step instructions, follow the links to the detailed guides.
The pipeline
Video in Genvid is produced one shot at a time, and each shot follows the same path:
- Screenplay — your script is the source of truth. See the Screenplay guide.
- Shots — Your connected agent breaks down the screenplay into scenes and shots. See Connect Your Agent.
- Keyframes — each shot gets a starting image, composed or generated in the Keyframe Editor.
- Videos — you generate video for the shot in the Video Editor, and add spoken lines in the Dialog Editor.
- Timeline — approved shots assemble into the timeline, ready to export.
Generation modes
The Video Editor offers eight generation modes, chosen from the Mode dropdown. Each mode is suited to a different starting point, and the model list filters to only the models that support the mode you pick.

| First Frame Only | Animate a single keyframe into a video. |
| First-Last Frame | Interpolate motion between a first and last frame. |
| References to Video | Generate video guided by one or more reference images for consistency. |
| Text to Video | Generate video from a text prompt alone, with no starting image. |
| Edit Video | Transform or restyle an existing video. |
| Motion Control | Apply the motion of an existing video (the driving video) to a subject keyframe. |
| Multi-Shot Video | Generate video spanning multiple shots in one pass, with per-shot prompts and durations. |
| Upscale Video | Enhance the resolution and quality of an existing video. |

Models and pricing
Video models differ by mode, quality, speed, and cost. Genvid prices video generation per second of output, so a longer clip costs proportionally more. When you select a mode, the model dropdown narrows to the compatible models.

Budget-aware by design
Every generation is accountable before it runs:
- You see a cost estimate before generating, and confirm it.
- Spending counts against your project budget and per-shot budgets.
Set and monitor those limits in Budget Management.
Provenance on every generation
Every generated video carries C2PA content provenance — a tamper-evident record of how it was made. See Content Provenance for what's recorded and how to inspect it.
Reviewing and selecting videos
A shot can accumulate several video generations. You triage them with a shared review vocabulary:
- Selected — the video chosen for this shot.
- Pending — generated but not yet decided.
- Discarded — set aside, but kept for reference.
